The Young Millionaires Program
Central Bedeque, PEI –July 2, 2019– The Young Millionaires Program is designed to assist youth between the ages of 9 and 16 discover more about operating a business and help them get started in a business of their own. Young entrepreneurs will develop basic business skills through a series of adventure workshops, such as, record keeping, marketing, customer service and public speaking skills. With over 200 applications submitted to the Young Millionaires Program this year, this week marks the end of the June adventure workshops for the Young Millionaires Program. Participants have completed workshops across Prince Edward Island and are now applying the skills they learned to purchase their supplies, price their products or services, plan their selling goals, and operate their business. There are approximately 80 sole proprietorships and 40 partnerships businesses being operated by young entrepreneurs this summer. Many of the business include: customized cards, jewelry, photography, natural skin care products, artwork, home decor, pet services, and many more. Several youth have collected order requests from their customers, before they were ready to officially start their business. At this stage, the facilitators of the program provide selling event opportunities, conduct site visits, and provide additional support if the youth require it. The participants are ready for another fun filled summer. Keep your eye out for all the young entrepreneurs at local festivals, stores, and events across Prince Edward Island. You will see them set up at the Summerside Side Walk Sale on July 11 and 12, the Somerset Festival on July 20, and at the Crapaud Exhibition on July 27, as well as other locations of their choice. Please show your support by talking with the young entrepreneurs, asking them about their business, and purchasing any products or services that are of interest to you. The Young Millionaires Program is ready to kick off another great summer supporting young entrepreneurs.
